Where any thought matters

Pondering 1

If god ever existed as the bible would have us believe where did he come from ? If god was the creator of everything how was he created? How long had he been around before creating us ? What was he doing in between time ? and more to the point what the hell is he doing now ?

I often ponder daft questions like these and I`d be fascinated if ever sound reasonable answers existed.

Please tell me your thoughts lets chew some fat

  1. If god ever existed as the bible would have us believe where did he come from ?

Zoe: As a Christian I was told and basically believed God (as is defined in an inerrant Bible) didn’t come from anywhere. God just was, always was, and always will be. Nobody ever appeared to openly ponder the question because the question didn’t seem to exist or if it did exist everybody wanted to pretend it didn’t.

If god was the creator of everything how was he created?

Again, as a Christian, there was never any suggestion that God was created or self-created.

How long had he been around before creating us ?

Oh I love that question and asked it and pondered it (and look where that got me) . . . the Christian answer? No one knows.

What was he doing in between time ?

    Pondering? πŸ™‚

and more to the point what the hell is he doing now ?

    I wonder.

    • I have to say well done Zoe .. yay for you .. You see I never really expected anybody to even reply to this as , even devote Christians will answer as you have and every answer is a cop out really .. I would really really loved to be proved wrong on this but this is where religion falls flat on its face for me .. THERE MUST BE AN ANSWER if its true, AND there will only be excuses if not .. That’s only my pondering opinion mind you but THANK YOU for trying to satisfy my mind .

      • Give it time lankybritt. You’re new to blogging. I’m sure there is a Christian who will be along at some point and give you the truth. πŸ™‚

As a Christian I often got the answer: (to my questions that couldn’t seem to be answered now) . . . we don’t know but we’ll have all eternity to find out.

There is an immense problem with your worship potential. You think too much!

  3. Or…even better…you can simply ask The Creator Himself…either now through prayer and guidance and see what you come up with…or when you meet Him personally on judgement day. Those are the best two options I could ever give.

  4. Where did God come from? Well, the mainstream Christian answer is that He didn’t, he’s always been there. As explanations go… well, I guess if it gets you through the night, go for it. As a practical matter, it’s so completely untestable as to be meaningless.

Where the explanation gets interesting for me is that, as best I understand it, the Big Bang is the origin of not only space, but also time. Which does interesting things to concepts like “always”, let alone location. Such a god would also be profoundly alien: for example, an unchanging eternal spirit that exists outside of time can’t be said to make “decisions” in the way we understand the term. Because He’s eternal/outside of time, all of His decisions are already made – and always have been. Or, to put that another way, they aren’t even really decisions; they’re just very specific qualities of this eternal being.

So, “How long had he been around before creating us?” Again, the mainstream answer is, “Eternally,” but since we’re talking about outside of time you could just as well say, “Every inch of it.” It would mean just about as much.

“What was he doing in between time? and more to the point what the hell is he doing now?”

For an all-powerful being that exists outside of space and time, doing and being might be very much the same thing. It’s not like He needs to while away the minutes playing solitaire; there are no minutes “there”. (There’s also no “there” there; again, eternal being outside of space.)

Such a being would be alien in a way that’s probably better represented by H.P. Lovecraft than any conventional religious writings.

    • Hello Sir .. Thank you for visiting I`ve heard good things of you it`s a pleasure to meet you .. I understand partly the concept of an alien existing in a place of absolute “nothing”, which is what it would have to be as I understand it, and yet ,that’s where I get lost with that .. Its that word nothing .. Is nothing possible?? What you describe tho is thought provoking and I like .. thankyou
